NABE Board Meeting Highlights (October 26-27, 2018)
The NABE Board met in Little Rock, AR, at the Arkansas Bar Association.  What a great bar association with such wonderful staff!

It was a busy day and half. The board heard updates on the good work of our sections and committees. We accepted a recommendation from the Small Bar Taskforce to conduct the 2019 Small Bar Conference in conjunction with the CSE Retreat, March 12-13, 2019 (Small Bar and CSE will meet jointly in the morning on March 13, with special afternoon programming just for small bars that will be livestreamed). We also discussed the plan for a New ED Bootcamp - a must attend for all new executive directors that will take place before CSE on the afternoon of March 12.

We spent most of the meeting planning for the future and prioritizing projects. Projects include planning for the anticipated move to Higher Logic E-Communities to facilitate conversations beyond our current email discussion list capacity to more segments of our membership next spring; the process and timeline to consider a possible change in midyear meetings; and how to better strategically plan and coordinate with NCBP and NCBF. The Board also reviewed consultant proposals to help us implement the recommendations from the Programs and Services Taskforce so that we can better serve all members. Once details are finalized, we will share the timeline for expected outcomes and how NABE efforts will positively impact your work at your bar. Finally, we discussed what NABE could do to assist the many bar associations experiencing leadership transition – supporting new(er) executive directors and their teams.

For more information on any of these projects or to get involved in a committee, please reach out to any board member. We are here to serve. (Highlights provided by Secretary Ellen Miller-Sharp.)
