The Indianapolis Bar Association (IndyBar) is taking an innovative approach to diversity hiring in its city. This summer, IndyBar will host a Diversity Job Fair, and the association is seeking diverse candidates "who are looking for a one-of-a-kind legal community in a Midwestern city that has both cosmopolitan style and small-town charm." The Bar Association of Baltimore City has an amazing annual tradition – celebrating adoptions in the community. In conjunction with the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, the association sponsors an Annual National Adoption Day Celebration. It "not only celebrates the children whose adoptions are finalized that day, but it is part of the national effort to raise awareness of the more than 100,000 children in foster care waiting to find permanent, loving families." The event includes activities such as face painting, temporary tattoos, balloon art, gifts for the children, and a dessert reception. Learn more here.

For over 15 years, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA) has provided education on “the three Rs” – rights, responsibilities, and realities. The program connects lawyers, judges, law students, and paralegals with high school students in Cleveland. Through a series of six lessons during the regular school day, 3Rs volunteers help foster an understanding and appreciation of the U.S. Constitution and share important information about how students can achieve their goals beyond high school. While civics education is a top priority for many bar associations, The Chicago Bar Association hosts a hugely successful initiative, the Edward J. Lewis II Lawyers in the Classroom Program. The program places attorney volunteers in schools in the city and suburbs “to help students to better understand the U.S. Constitution, our legal system, and law-related careers.” To date, The Chicago Bar Association’s program has over 600 attorney volunteers who have presented in 60 different 2^nd-8^th grade classrooms. The Atlanta Bar Association's members are encouraged and incentivized to bring members and non-members to the association's events. The "Two for Two Program" gives each member who brings two members to two events an entry to a grand prize drawing.
