As a result of the pandemic, interest in and demand for virtual offerings, such as NABE webinars, have never been greater. NABE is committed to the accessibility of its resources, and members are invited to attend all NABE webinars free of charge. Please note that NABE members will need to sign in first before registering in order to receive webinars free of charge. The sign-in requirement will be noted on sessions that are available to both members and non-members where there may be a cost for non-members to participate. Governmental relations professionals from across the country gathered in New Orleans for the NABE Governmental Relations Section Workshop November 12-14. Registrants heard from representatives of the National Conference of State Legislatures, National Center for State Courts, and Uniform Law Commission, as well as section members providing perspectives on legislative trends in their home states. Professor Ed Chervernak of the University of New Orleans Survey Research Center provided a review of the November elections and what they portend for the future. While in New Orleans, the GR Section Council met to begin planning for next year’s workshop and to develop strategies for the section’s overall operations. Watch for information on the 2015 workshop in February.

There are more than 60 days before an estimated 8,000 lawyers and NABE members invade Boston for the ABA annual meeting. Did you ever think about the impact this meeting has on the host city? Nate Silver would be proud: The conference is estimated to generate 23,212 hotel room night stays, $14.61 million in economic impact and $980,000 in tax revenue, according to the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority.
