3  Fee Waived  $1000 Priority to first time attendees, or those who have not received a scholarship in the last three years

Scholarships include registration waiver and a travel stipend. Recipients are required to cover all travel expenses up front. After the meeting, recipients will submit a reimbursement form with receipts documenting costs of transportation, hotel, meals, and other travel expenses. The total amount of reimbursement is limited to the maximum stipend for the scholarship received.

Scholarship Guidelines

In considering the award of NABE scholarship assistance, preference will be given to applicants who are members in good standing and who:

  1. are first time attendees at the meeting for which the scholarship is requested.
  2. have not received a scholarship in the last three years (not including Section Workshops).
  3. are financially unable to attend. This can occur from a number of factors including the size and type of bar association, the annual budget of the association and the capacity of the organization to provide professional development training on its own.
  4. are new to bar association work or have moved to a bar association that meets the financial criteria above.
  5. by participation would improve the racial/ethnic diversity of NABE as an organization.
  6. if not a first time attendee, applicant has not attended any NABE meetings in the past five years.

An applicant need not satisfy all of the criteria specified above. Applications are encouraged from staff at all levels and areas of bar association administration and programming. The Scholarship Committee, in making its recommendation, shall attempt to award assistance to individuals who can best demonstrate that success in the application process will further the goals of NABE. The Committee maintains the right to recruit applicants, without promise of reward, who may satisfy the criteria listed above.

Individuals from the locality where meetings are to take place or from adjacent states are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applicants for a scholarship for the CSE Retreat must be the executive director or CEO of their bar association.

NABE Sections may offer scholarships in addition to those offered by the NABE Board. For a description of the eligibility requirements and application forms for the NABE Section scholarships, please see the section information.

Scholarship applicants may submit applications at any time before the application deadline for the scholarship specified. The Scholarship Committee will only consider applications for a particular scholarship after the deadline for that scholarship has passed.
